| Why
when I try to edit an EZOIL function do I get an error “You
cannot change part of an array”? |
| |
|
The EZOIL function creates an output array
(multiple cells of related information). The output is an array because
each cell in the series represents a different month or year of production.
To create or edit an array, you have to enter the function and parameters
and press CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER (instead of just ENTER). You can identify
an output array because the function and parameters are bracketed
by “{“ and “}”. |

| When
I make a change in a date in a function, why is there not a change
in the output? |
| |
| |
EZ well does all calculations in monthly
increments. All individual days within a month are ignored (thrown
out), and each month is treated as being the same length, 30.4 days.
For example, if you change the forecast start date from 1/1/00 to
1/31/00, there will be no change in the output – the function
treats both dates as occurring at the same time within January. If
you change the date from 1/31/00 to 2/1/00, however, the function
will change the output by exactly one month. |

| |
| How
do I change the length of the EZOIL function output array? |
| |
| |
In the Spreadsheet
To increase the length of an EZOIL function outpput array, highlight
all the cells you want to be included in the output array, click anywhere
in the formula bar (to activate the formula edit features), and press
CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER. All the selected cells will be updated to contain
the array formula. Decreasing the number of cells in an output array
from the spreadsheet is a little more difficult. First delete the
function array by selecting all cells in the function and pressing
delete. Then select the cells you do want included in the output array
and reenter the EZOIL function.
Using the Function Writer
The easiest way is to change the output length is to use the function
writer. Select any cell in the function array you want to change,
open the EZOIL function writer (CTRL+e) and press the “Format
Output” button. From this form, you can change the “Total
Output Length” to any number of output cells you would like.
Press OK to close the form. You will get a warning when you press
OK on the function writer saying, “Output array will overwrite
(and erase) one or more arrays, continue?” Press “Yes”
to continue. The output array length is automatically changed in
the spreadsheet.

| Who
is this program written for? |
| |
| |
The Easy Well program is written for anybody
who is involved with exploration and production (E&P) in the petroleum
industry and needs to forecast a wells production. Reservoir engineers,
auditors, economic modelers, financial analysts, and various other
posistions all need to create well decline forecasts to calculate
how many reserves a well or field will produce. |

 |
| |
| What
can Easy Well do that other forecasting programs can't? |
| |
| |
The Easy Well program is written to be
a quick tool to assist you in creating forecasts in excel. All inclusive
programs such as PEEP, a product of Merak. and Aries
a product of Landmark (a Halliburton Company) allow you to make similar
forecasts, but only from within their programs. Sure you can export
the output to excel, but if you need to change the forecast pararmeters,
you have to enter the program, make the changes, then re-export to
excel. After that you still have to copy and paste the output to the
correct areas of your spreadsheet. Easy Well can do all of this right
from within your speadsheet, and at a far cheaper price. |

| Why
when I uninstall Easy Well does the EZWell menu still appear in Excel? |
| |
| |
Occasionally, the uninstall program cannot uninstall
the Easy Well Excel add-in at the time of the uninstall (i.e. if
you have Excel open when you run the uninstall program). If you
have run the uninstall program, but still see the "EZWell"
menu when you start Excel, then you need to remove a file called
"EZWell.xla".
To uninstall, close out of Excel, open windows explorer and do
a search under "My Computer" for a file named "EZWell.xla".
When the search is completed, delete all occurrences of the file.
To speed up the search, you can browse to "C:\Program Files\Microsoft
Office\" and start the search from there. |
